Twenty-Some Years
on Miranda Lambert Way.

A Lindale music venue that grew into two East Texas steakhouses. Same story, same block. Now with GoodStock PRIME by Nolan Ryan beef and the new Billiards Room and Lounge at Lindale.

A music venue that grew
into a steakhouse.

Long before Texas Music City, the building on Miranda Lambert Way was Love & War in Texas. A live-music venue that opened in the late 1990s and became one of East Texas’s most-watched stages for country and singer-songwriter acts.

A Texas timeline.

1999

Love & War in Texas opens in Lindale.

The building we sit in today opens as Love & War in Texas, a live-music venue and restaurant in Lindale’s Cannery district. It builds a reputation quickly as one of the best stages in East Texas to catch a country act on their way up.

2003

Miranda Lambert auditions here for Nashville Star.

A young Miranda Lambert takes the stage at Love & War in Texas to audition for the USA Network’s Nashville Star. She goes on to become one of the biggest names in country music. She still keeps her Pink Pistol boutique next door, on the same block we still occupy.

2018

Lindale becomes a Texas Music Friendly Community. The flagship rebrands.

The State of Texas designates Lindale a Texas Music Friendly Community. To match the recognition and to signal a bigger commitment to smoked meat and honest steak alongside the music, the flagship rebrands as Texas Music City Grill & Smokehouse.

2019

Tyler expansion. The log cabin on Old Jacksonville Hwy becomes TXM Tyler.

Co-owner Sam Wells joins the brand and turns the log-cabin building that had spent a long run as Coyote Sam’s into the second Texas Music City location. Same kitchen philosophy, same beef program, a Water Feature patio with its own stage, and weekend brunch that becomes a Sunday institution.

Today

Two Texas steakhouses. One story.

Both locations now serve GoodStock PRIME by Nolan Ryan beef, hand-cut in-house and cooked over hardwood. Live music some nights. The new Billiards Room and Lounge at Lindale, with professional Diamond and Omega tables and tufted leather lounge seating. And a wall full of Alamo history in Tyler that we didn’t build overnight.

A wall full of Texas.

Co-owner Sam Wells is a direct descendant of William Wells, a hero of the Battle of the Alamo. Sam’s spent eighteen years building a private collection of antique Texas firearms and Alamo-era artifacts. That collection now hangs on the dining-room walls at TXM Tyler.

You can walk through it any day, free, during any visit. Come for the ribeye, look up between bites.

  • 18-year private collection of Texas antiques
  • Direct family ties to the Battle of the Alamo (1836)
  • On display at TXM Tyler, free to view during any visit
